Despite living in Northern California, where we get 65 degrees in November and nearly 10 hours of sunlight all winter, it can get pretty cold in the morning, not to mention we'll eventually have a rain again. I'm also planning a couple trips this winter to even colder climates (think Reno, San Fransisco & mountains), so I really need proper footwear that'll keep my feet warm and dry but matches with all my clothes and still be super comfotable

Harnes boots will fit all my needs superbly. And while these Frye's boots are amazing, I'm not sure I'm totally willing to do the $218 of damage just yet. Although easily treatable, only about 1 in 3 people struggling with depression seek out and undergo treatment; suidicide is the third-leading cause of death amoung people aged 18 to 24.
Thanks to the Facebook event, over 35,000 people pledged to write the word "Love" on their arms today. Write the word on your arm, but don't forget the deeper meaning behind it. Here is what Jamie Tworkowski, a founder of TWLOHA has to say:

"If you are/were one of the many participating in "TWLOHA Day", we want to say thank you. We didn't really have anything to do with it - this was just a case of people getting excited and wanting to do something and then that thing spreading... One thing we want to say is that our desire for this day and in general is that TWLOHA is meant to be about much more than writing a word on your arm. Don't get us wrong - we're not against that... we just think it's important that all of us stay focused on the heart of the matter, which is what that word (LOVE) means. What does it mean to love someone? What does it mean to love people who are hurting? What does it mean to love yourself? What does it mean to live a life that runs after hope and help and community? It's easy to write the word. It's another thing entirely to live the life. Let's live the life."

So here's what my arm looks like today:

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_WZXFSo_REVA/SvxawDmS3pI/AAAAAAAAAwY/29ET7oxY2JM/s1600-h/love.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; I've recently realized that I don't have a single day off without something written in my planner until Thanksgiving; for the next month I will go seven days per week. Here's about what the schedule looks like:

Monday: Classes from 8 am to 2 pm followed by work from 3:30 to 6:30 pm
Tuesday: Work from 5:30 am to 12:30
Wednesday: Classes from 8 am until 9 pm
Thursday: Work from 5:30 am to 12:30 pm and then from 3:30 to 6:30 pm
Friday: Work from 5:30 to 12:30 om
Saturday: get up at 7 to go to the soccer field and referee until the afternoon
Sunday: get up around 7:30 to go to the soccer fields and referee until early evening

Where does anything else fit? I don't even know if I could squeeze one more activity in that schedule. I'm taking sixteen units, so I also have a decent amount of homwork and reading also. At least when soccer season ends, I will be able to reclaim my weekends and get some of my projects finished. Even though I'm super busy I wouldn't have it any other way right now, as I'm getting everything done and building a nice savings account by living with my parents. It'll totally be worth it when I go to Europe or travel for a semster when I finish Butte!

Stop-Motion Animation

Two guys, Blu and David Ellis, collaborate to paint and photograph an abandoned building in Italy, then turn it into a stop-motion animation video that's very entertaining to watch.

The amount of time and energy that was put into this is absolutely incredible. Sometimes I wish that I had the creativity and patience to make a video like this one. (Well, I might have the creativity, but not the patience) More people should realize the amount of effort that goes into creating art, I feel more people would appreciate it.

Enjoy!

COMBO a collaborative animation by Blu and David Ellis (2 times loop) from blu on Vimeo.

(found at Mental Floss)
